This is a great taste for the series. I would recommend it if you want an idea for what the series will be like but at the same time, I wouldn’t recommend it if you’ve never read the series because there will be major spoilers. This encompasses everything that the main series does except the political intrigue.
This more so focuses on the action and exploring aspects. Even in this short little novella, we truly know the characters of Tarquinius and Romulus. One error was that I was getting a lot of the side characters confused.
Therethere is just an overwhelming amount of them. The atmosphere is definitely my favorite part. I’m somebody when I get an open world video game, I want to explore every ounce of the map and that is what Ben Kane does with his Forgotten Legion series, he tries to take us to everywhere in the ancient world, and I love that.
The plot is definitely action heavy theres a mission to be had. That’s not really my favorite story to read, but I do know a lot of fans of the series will like that. This was good and did take me back to The Forgotten Legion series, but I don’t think it’s a must read if you’re a fan of the series either.
